Using birch ply, all the cabinetry in this modern-retro styled kitchen is handmade and custom sized to maximise storage. With the plywood edge grain showing as a detail throughout, this kitchen is functional and beautiful in equal measure. Drawer fronts, doors and panels throughout the kitchen are bonded on both sides with Formica laminate. On the dining room side of the peninsula, we used birch ply with an oak veneer, finished with durable hardwax oil to give warm wood tones that compliment the kitchen colour scheme. The wall shelves and the plate rack were again handmade in birch ply but with an Abet laminate. Solid oak dowel cup hooks provide useful hanging across the cooking area. LED lighting tape is hidden in the underside of the shelves to give plenty of task lighting in the cooking area.
